Upload Revit families to Content

RFA files are family files that can either be loaded into a project or saved externally.

In our Content library, families can be easily downloaded or uploaded.

How do I upload families into the Content module?

Click on the UPLOAD NEW button, a pop-up window will appear, then Drag & Drop .rfa files or Browse to select and upload .rfa files into the Content module pop-up.

After selecting your file you will be directed a new window,

You can batch upload multiple files by clicking on the icon, and cancel excess files if you wish to by clicking on the ❌ icon as shown in the image.

Click on SELECT to proceed further.

Edit the details of your families before you finally save them in your Content library.

You can edit the name of the file, switch to different unit system by clicking on the toggle button, select the version of your software used for current .rfa file.

Scroll down further to edit other details,

Set the LOD (Level Of Development) according to AIA/US standards simply by clicking on the empty fields.

Similarly set the LOI (Level Of Information) for your file

Scroll down further,

Select the geometry of your .rfa file, click on 3D if your have a 3D model inside your file.

Click on 🔻icon in the template section to get a dropdown, from which you can select the type or domain to which your element from the file belongs to.

Click on 🔻icon in the Placement type section to get a dropdown, from which you can select the location where the element inside the file will be actually placed on site in the project. This helps to classify and identify your .rfa file easily.

Click on icon to add tags to highlight your file in the module. You can choose a tag from the options you get from the dropdown or can simply custom your tag and attach it.

All of this will be stored as Metadata which will help you search, filter and sort your uploaded files in Content Module.
