Installing the planBIM Revit plugin [Plugin]

Installing the planBIM Revit plugin [Plugin]

planBIM Revit plugin extends the functionality of planBIM by integrating with Revit and giving BIM teams additional control over their projects.

Minimum System Requirements

Long story short, if you can run Revit, you can run our plugin.

You can use this feature if you have Revit 2018 and later versions of it.

There are no additional hardware or IT requirements needed to be able to run planBIM. However, since planBIM is cloud based, you'll need access to a decent internet connection to be able to access the functionality.

You can read more about Revit's system requirements here.

Download Process

To download the plugin, you'd need to visit the Autodesk App Store and search using the term "planBIM"

📓Note

You'll be needing an Autodesk Account to access the plugin, as you need to sign in to download it.

The plugin can be downloaded for free by anyone, even without an active planBIM Subscription.

However, to use the functionality, signing in using a planBIM account is necessary.

You'd also need one of our paid plans (read about them here) and would need to have Editor or Manager level access.

Installation Process

The downloaded file in the previous step would be an MSI (Microsoft Installer) file format. Double click to run the setup. You would need to also have administrator rights for executing the setup so you may want to contact your company's IT admin.

📓 Note

Please ensure that the Revit application and any associated processes are closed during the installation.

Once the installation process is completed, go to Revit and open or create a new project.

You will see a planBIM tab on the ribbon as shown in the image. Click on the tab and then click on the Sign in button on the left to initiate the planBIM window (we call it the dockable).

Now enter your account details and sign in to your planBIM account.
