Adding collaborators to your document

Introduction

planBIM Docs provides you with a collaborative medium to edit your documents. Therefore, you can work together on a document by sharing it with others in your project.

There are 2 essential sharing workflows which are enabled by planBIM Docs.

1. Work in Progress :

When you are working on a document and want to invite someone else to edit it with you, you can add them as a collaborator to the draft of your document.

2. Published :

When you want to finalize a document for everyone in the project to view, you can publish it. Read more about publishing here.

Adding collaborators

Follow these steps to share a document:

  • Open a document in planBIM Docs

  • Click the Manage Collaborators button on the top-right corner

  • Here, you'll see a list of all editors and managers of your project. You can select the ones you'd like to invite as collaborators to your draft. Only collaborators can see changes to your draft. These newly added collaborators possess editing rights to any part of the document. Others will see this document only after it is published.

Collaborator permissions

The collaborators you add can do the following:

  • Add/remove and manage sections of your doc

  • Invite others as collaborators

  • Edit doc sections

  • Publish the doc

  • Comment on all sections

  • Change status of the sections

  • Delete/Archive the draft

  • Rename the draft document
